Shadow of the Sun

A couple of months ago, I received an invitation on Facebook to become a fan of an author named Laura Kreitzer. I had never heard of her, but I did a little search of her web page and read some of the excerpts from her soon to be published book, Shadow of the Sun.

I also came to realize that she was a talented fan fiction author. I became a genuine fan of her writing through fan fiction and "friended" her on facebook as well.

I have to digress at this point in my story and mention something about facebook. I love the communication that I have with all my friends. That small little status update says a lot about a person and that adult communication is just fantastic. I am a loyal facebook friend, I hope, and I try to respond to all my friends, even if it's just a like.

So, I watched Laura's status updates outline her journey from writing, to editing, to publishing, to the release of her book. I was so happy for her, to have a dream come true to be published was just a wonderful thing to witness.

As soon as I could after the book was released I purchased it directly from Laura's website and was able to get an autographed copy. Squeeeeel!

Now like I said-- I am a loyal facebook friend. I was totally prepared to say that I liked the book even if I didn't like it. Boy- was I stupid to even think that would be necessary!!

I LOVE THE BOOK!!! I couldn't put it down. I fed my kids Lunchables- the pizza ones and I didn't even heat up the sauce, in fact my two year old was trying to gnaw the sauce open because I forgot to open his.

This book was so full of action and should have been confusing, but wasn't in anyway. The story is just fantastic. My brain can't even come up with a proper review because I am still so in love with it that I just gush and I can't make sense of it yet.

Here is a description of Shadow of the Sun from Laura's website:

Gabriella’s past is a mystery, but that never stopped her from achieving her goals. As a supernatural specialist, and far more intelligent than anyone her age, she has always been ignored by her peers. Because of the isolation she has always felt, she put her life and soul into her job. Being a supernatural specialist hasn’t given her the divine intervention she always longed for, until one day a shipment arrives from Italy containing three dead bodies with an uncanny ability to regenerate. Gabriella is frightened and intrigued, but not as scared as she becomes when a dark creature attacks her.

As the bodies come back to life, the plot takes an unexpected twist that you won’t see coming. The supernatural world only begins to unfold before her as angels appear, her dreams start to haunt her, and the very past she has forgotten comes back with startling clarity. Romance blooms, escape plans are made, an assassin is out to kill her, and death is only around the corner. But what is more terrifying than all of it is the fact she is the chosen one, the Illuminator, the one who will save them all.

If you love paranormal action and romance- check this out. If it's not your thing, check it out anyway. I promise that you will not be sorry!!

As always- I have to leave a little note to the author. (may have spoilers, but I will try to be good.)

Dear Laura,

You owned me with this book and now I am stalking your site waiting for little crumbs about Soul Stalker. I am definitely Team Andrew and can't wait until he and Gabriella can be together on the pages again. I still cry when I think of Abelie and Aiden making their tough decision and losing each other. Thank you for your story. It has made me happy and I think that I will just go read it again. After I call all of my friends and tell them to buy your book. I am unfortunately not loaning mine out.

Thank you,

Rachel Z.

Wow, you can't even begin to imagine how happy I was to read your review! I am also a crazy fan of Laura (from back when she only wrote fanfiction)! I'm so anxious for word to get out about her awesome book! I hope your readers see this review and buy the book, then tell a friend to buy it! I love that you're not sharing yours! I won't share mine either. I want this book to be on the best seller list :)
I do have one complaint: Team Andrew? *sighs* I'm 100% Team Joseph!
