The Host Challenge

I know that my blog is supposed to be about Twilight, but I really admire Stephanie Meyer and love her writing style. When I purchased The Host, I was totally not interested in the story- Body snatching aliens-please. It was a stretch for me to read about vampires so aliens were really out there for me. I really loved this book and in a way I think that Stephenie was able to more accurately express the emotions than she did in the Twilight books. When Melanie sees her brother for the first time, I bawled my eyes out, but when Edward left Bella I didn't cry. The Host shows a maturity that Twilight did not.
I was excited to read this post on her website:
Hey guys, great news! The Host is on its way to the big screen:

I'm so excited to be working with Nick Wechsler, and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz to bring The Host to a visual format. They've all been a dream to work with, so lovely and collaborative, and I feel like we're in a really good place to make a great movie together. And then to have Andrew Niccol writing and directing? Truly awesome. If you've never seen Gattaca, go watch it now. One of my favorite movies of all time. It's such a great example of character driven science fiction, which is ideal for The Host, no? I'm having an absolute blast imagining different dream casts, which I would post if people didn't take my silly blogs so seriously these days. I'm looking forward to seeing the cast lists you come up with in the fansite forums, and if any of them match mine.
So, very exciting. Yay Host!

So here is my challenge to you all, read the book if you have not already and help me come up with a fantasy cast list!
And I don't want any suggestions of Megan Fox for any character! She makes me gag!!

Robert Pattinson as a Pirate?

I came across this article about Johnny Depp being replaced by Robert Pattinson in the "Pirate's of the Caribbean" movies. First of all-- Johnny Depp, in my opinion, is irreplaceable. He IS Captain Jack Sparrow!! Now I don't think the article is saying that Robert would take on the role of Captain Jack. I think it is saying that a new character would be introduced. I am all for this. I would love to see Rob in a comedic performance. Oh, that smile!! :)

But, here is my question; Where do these random websites get their info? Does Rob even know that someone wants him to be a pirate? I doubt it!!

I would still like to see him as a pirate!!

My New Moon Birthday!!

This last week I celebrated a birthday. I normally like a very low-key day with my family, but MrsMe took the opportunity to throw me a real live theme party. I can't remember the last time I had a party, maybe on my 21st. I will tell you that giving all the responsibility to MrsMe was very hard for me. I am a control freak. I tend to be the one in charge.

I was instructed by MrsMe that I had to clear out basically all th personal effects from my living room, pictures, knick knacks, dust and cobwebs. (Twilight has basically ruined my housekeeping skills. Ok, it wasn't that bad!) I followed her instructions and was left with a clean, empty, living room. My next instructions were to leave and let her and my husband decorate the house and prepare for the party.

I came home to my trees wrapped in twinkle lights and was met at the door by this:

I am now the proud owner of a life-size Edward and Bella. Poor cardboard cutouts have been sorely molested all weekend. Especially poor Bella. The boys couldn't leave her alone.

My home was breathtaking. There were candles everywhere, and pink roses. There were pictures of New Moon stills all over, quotes from New Moon on black paper, and beautiful posters. I can't even describe how beautiful it was. Here are some pictures. Sorry for how bad they suck.

There was delicious food and New Moon candy. There was plenty of alcohol to keep the mood jolly (as if Edward's presence wasn't enough.) I will post the recipes for the delicious spiked punch and shots soon. Then the there was the cake. My brother is a chef and in the past month has made some amazing cakes. A newly discovered talent. The cake he made for me is so beautiful that I could not cut it. It has a place of honor in my kitchen. I did not even offer to cut it for my guests.

Isn't it amazing!!! Do you like how he wrote the name of my blog on it?

We played 2 fun games. I did win both of them, but allowed my guests to claim the prizes. We finished our evening with a viewing of Twilight outside. Edward joined us, but kept falling over and trying to kiss me. If RZ had not been watching I would have let him.

(OME- with thighs like that I should stop obsessing over Twilight and go to the gym!!)
All in all it was a fantastic time shared with friends and family that mean the world to me. MrsMe decorations would make Alice proud.

Kathleen, Alli, Andrew and Reza, I love you all so much. Thank you for making my birthday so special!! Thank you Mom and Dad for taking care of my kiddos! PAB would have lit her hair on fire with all the candles!

I am going to stop going on and on and go play with my mini-Edward.

Maybe we will go for a drive?
